Refurbishment of Wevelgem municipal park

In a first phase for the redevelopment of Wevelgem Park, the immediate vicinity of the renovated library located in the park was already done. This is a realization of contemporary park architecture that fits seamlessly into the historic context of the park. The load-bearing structure of the design involves a long retaining wall made of black clay pavers that connects all the parts and creatively accommodates the differences in height and gives old trees the breathing room they need to continue growing without problems.

In a second phase, the design provides for further renovation of the park and construction of an event meadow that will replace the existing tennis courts. Redundant and high-maintenance green massifs were removed and replaced with grass. This makes the beautiful trees stand out better and creates a peaceful park.

In a third phase, the area around City Hall was repaved. The implantation of planters with seating areas create a very cozy atmosphere in the immediate vicinity of City Hall.

The redevelopment of Wevelgem’s park pays great attention to the comfort of visitors to the park. Seat walls, benches, playgrounds, etc. … ensure that it is pleasant to be there and that the residents of Wevelgem can meet there in a very beautiful and peaceful environment. The old park has regained a soul and is gaining full status as the green heart of Wevelgem.
