Staden cemetery

In an initial study phase, a master plan was drawn up for the former station site, including the cemetery and container park.  The master plan provided for complete greening with extra attention paid to logical connecting axes for slow road users.

Removal of pavement & greening

In an initial implementation phase, the almost 100% paved northern zone of the former station site was redesigned. In this zone, the existing basketball court and container park were broken up and replaced by a landscape park facing the open landscape. At the end is a raised meeting and farewell area. An ideal place for the last farewell. But this raised seating area has a multifunctional character. It is also an anchor and resting point along the long Vrijbos route. Cyclists can stop there for a moment.

In a second implementation phase, the old part of the cemetery also underwent thorough a removal of pavement and greening.

Today, the park with its special seating area is a green gateway to the municipality of Staden.
