At the request of the municipal council of Wortegem-Petegem, a master plan was drawn up for the Wortegem cemetery. This assignment involved a thorough redesign and expansion. With this, we are creating a site where people can say goodbye to their loved ones in a dignified and serene manner, within a calming green setting. At the same time, the cemetery is being transformed into a green meeting place that connects with village life.

The design strongly emphasizes greenery, serenity, and respect for the surroundings. Most of the paved paths will disappear and be replaced by lawn and planting. The entrance square will be completely redesigned, and this renewed paving will then be extended in a straight line towards the meeting square. This central square leads us to the ash garden, but also to a ceremonial farewell space with a view of the landscape.

This master plan demonstrates that the cemetery can evolve into a park cemetery: a place of remembrance, tranquility, and encounter, embedded in the heart of the community.
