On behalf of the municipality of Ranst, we designed a future-oriented master plan for the cemetery on Schawijkstraat. The design emphasizes greening, serenity, and accessibility, with the ambition of transforming the cemetery into a full-fledged park cemetery.

Excess paving is replaced by lawns, gravel lawns, and native planting. New tree structures and permeable paths enhance the green character while enabling ecological and low-maintenance management.

The visitor experience is also significantly improved: a new entrance area with a resting spot and bicycle parking, a ceremonial farewell area in harmony with nature, a garden for the placement of ashes, and an interactive star garden provide spaces for comfort, remembrance, and contemplation.

With this vision, the cemetery evolves into a place that not only offers a dignified resting place but also a green, serene environment where visitors can feel connected to nature and to one another.
