For the master plans of the cemeteries in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw (Zuun, Ruisbroek, Vlezenbeek, Oudenaken and Sint-Laureins-Berchem), we developed a vision that goes beyond purely functional redesign. Our design philosophy aims for a natural and harmonious integration of the cemeteries into the landscape. We want the redevelopments to look as if they have always belonged there: a place where respect for the deceased is combined with a pleasant, green environment for residents. In this way, a green heart is created in the village, where tranquility, nature and heritage converge.
In our plans, we remove unnecessary paved surfaces and focus on greening: sowing grass, planting native tall trees, and creating new green zones that promote biodiversity. We also provide new facilities, such as ash scattering meadows, urn monuments and columbarium monuments, to make the cemeteries future-oriented and multifunctional.
