Redevelopment of inner area of Zele center

In a first study phase, a master plan was drawn up for the ‘Zanbergplein’, the area around culture house ‘De Wiek’ and the area around sports hall ‘De Klodde’. This entire area received a thorough greening in the master plan with extra attention paid to logical connecting axes for slow road users. I was able to convince the Zele city council to provide underground parking under the ‘Zandbergplein’. This will allow the current parking lot to make way for a “Village Green” lined with linden trees and surrounded by sufficiently large terraces for the hospitality businesses. Through traffic can be cut and still be sent to downtown via a short detour. This will seamlessly connect the fully greened “Zandbergplein” with the park zone around “De Wiek” and “De Klodde. An identical approach as I transformed the village of Oostnieuwkerke at the time. So here we can also literally speak of a “groundbreaking” design.

Currently, the implementation file for the realization of a first phase of this master plan is ongoing. It concerns the redevelopment of the area around culture house ‘De Wiek’ and the area around the sports hall ‘De Klodde’.
