The old school of the village of Wulvergem was given the function of a private residence and is located right next to the cemetery. Together with this cemetery, the garden forms a “central green. The open vision of the residents caused them to follow my train of thought to not close off the garden but seamlessly flow into the public space. This demonstrates respect for the historical context of the village ensured that the open space could continue to function as a green heart of the village. Now cyclists and hikers very regularly stop there to enjoy the beautiful surroundings for a while. The old concrete tiles of the former play court were replaced with cobblestones. The magnificent walnut tree was given ample root space there and is thriving as never before. This unique garden project is a great example of how residents can become friends with their environment!
